ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Regional Council on Disability Affairs (RCDA) will spearhead the celebration of the 33rd National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week on July 17-23, bared Leila Awis of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Awis said the celebration will kick off with a Motorcade on July 18 followed by a Holy Mass while a forum on the rights of the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) is set on the 19th. A PWD Congress is also set on same day in one of the local hotels here.
Other activities in line with the celebration include free dental services on Jul. 20 and a variety show on July 23, medical assessment and newborn screening will also be conducted in line with the celebration, with the Department of Health (DOH) taking the lead.
Meanwhile, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jesse M. Robredo in a memorandum circular 2011-81 called on local chief executives (LCEs) to celebrate this year's NDPR week and commemorate the theme, which is "Making the Rights Real for Filipinos with Disabilities" by calling the public's attention to the plight and challenges faced by PWDs.
