PAGADIAN CITY — As a gesture of active and continued support to the observance of the National Disaster Consciousness Month (NDCM) this July which carries the theme "Makialam, Makiisa. Sa Pagsugpo sa Panganib May Maitutulong Ka," the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Police Office (ZSPPO) joins the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) in the celebration by conducting tree planting activity on July 14 here.
Police community relations (PCR) chief P/Sr. Inspector Teresita O. Pacibar said the activity is also in compliance with the order of PNP Director General Raul Bacalzo to actively support the NDCM month celebration saying that the PNP as part of the NDRRMC, along with other national government agencies are required to participate the month-long celebration which includes the following: tree planting, photo exhibit, poster making, essay writing and drawing contest.
Paclibar said provincial director P/SSupt. Jose Bayani Gucela will lead the activity and he will be joined by the officers and men of ZSPPO.
"The officers and men of ZSPPO will plant 100 mahogany seedlings at the regional command (RECOM) site in barangay Buenavista," Paclibar said quoting Gucela.
Paclibar said it is a nationwide synchronized planting activity, thus the PNP municipal police stations in the province will do the same. "We will be in the planting site at exactly 6 a.m.," Paclibar said.
Paclibar said it is not only the duty of the police to keep law and order and to protect the lives and properties of the citizens but also to protect and save the environment thru tree planting and sustainable management. (JPA/GCC/PIA9/Pagadian City)
